A Beach for Everyone in Tanzania

If you are imagining clear blue azure seas and pure white shimmering sands, friendly people and luxury lodgings, all set under the African sunshine, you’re probably imagining Tanzania.

Tanzania’s beaches are pretty perfect and with beach weather all year round there really isn’t a bad time to go to Tanzania. Let’s take a look at some of the beach areas and what you can expect from a holiday on the gorgeous Tanzanian coast.

South of Dar and Sadaani National Park

These mainland beaches hold their own charms, not being as popular as the ones on Zanzibar but with that comes seclusion and a real chance to get away from everything.

South of Dar is just what is says and even though it’s only a 10 minute flight or 2 hour drive from bustling Dar es Salaam you’ll feel like you are in a different world on these Tanzanian beaches, with a reputation for being Africa’s least discovered and more beautiful stretches of coastline.

The Sadaani National Park is a pretty special place and one of the few places you can combine safari and beach relaxation at the same venue, and pretty uniquely on the same day. It’s location between palm fringed beaches and open grassland means that you can pretty much get the best of everything.  It also benefits from being just opposite to Zanzibar so you can combine it with a trip to the better known spice island.

Pemba Island, Mafia Island and Vamizi Island

These islands are off the coast of Tanzania and surround the larger and more well-known island of Zanzibar.  Pemba is renowned as one of the best diving locations in the world, Mafia has a ramshackle laid back charm and Vamizi is a true slice of the exotic and it’s lodge is one of the top 10 beach destinations in Africa. These islands are not as easy to get to as Zanzibar is and getting to them often involves a bit more of an effort, but once there you are rewarded with  a sense of being somewhere far away from the madding crowd.

Nungwi, Kendwa, Matemwe, Pongwe, Kizimkazi, Bwejuu – just exotic sounding names to you now, but if you spend any time on the picture perfect island of Zanzibar one of these could just be the place where you found your own paradise.  With many more beaches on offer than anywhere else in Tanzania, the island of Zanzibar really does have something for everyone.  Whether you are interested in diving or snorkelling, kite surfing, horse riding through the surf, topping up your tan or simply immersing yourself in beach life you can find your perfect spot at one of the white sand beaches you’ll find on this island paradise.

A beach for everyone

So as you can see there are Tanzian Beaches for everyone and you could plan your trip so that you visit more than one of them to experience the diversity and splendour of this fabulous country.
